New Law for the University on its way

The Faroese Parliament is at present considering a legislative proposal to merge the University, the Teachers College and the Nursing College.

The Minister of Culture has proposed a new law merging the three higher educational institutions in the Faroe Islands. The Rectors of the institutions have taken an active part in shaping the proposal, which will come into effect as soon as possible. Due to the short period of time before the elections which will be in January 2008 at latest, the proposal might be withdrawn and presented again after the election.
