A summer institute in Faroese language and culture for foreign students is held by the University of the Faroe Islands approximately every second year.

The international summer institute took place for the first time in 2004; and has been held three times since, in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

The summer institute addresses university students from outside Scandinavia, primarely students of  Nordic and other Germanic languages as well as students of general and comparative linguistics.

The forthcoming summer institute is scheduled for August 3 – 25  2011.
