1630.19 - Independent Work I - Writing
Independent Work I - Writing
To participate in the course students must be enrolled for the diploma in art.
The aim of the course is to develop an indepent approach to writing and a sense of how the techinical decisions one takes as a writer condition the aesthetic properties of the texts one writes.
Students will work with own texts which they write in connection with the course. A main emphasis will be placed on close reading and analysing the texts with respect to writing technique and the relation between artistic intention and end product.
Learning and teaching approaches
The class meets for 3 hours a week for one semester. Teaching is organised into masterclasses where the work of the students is analysed and developed through group discussions and individual conversations.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to - recount their working process - analyse their own texts with respect to style and genre - identify and evaluate artistic strengths and weaknesses of their texts
Combined. Independent work + oral presentation.
Readings and other material will be distributed at the beginning of the semester. For the exam, the student prepares a reading list with the material which has been read during the course. The list should comply with the conditions which apply to BA-level courses at the Faculty of Faroese Language and Literature.
