Prerequisites
Students must be enrolled for the diploma in art to participate in the course.
Purpose
The aim of the course is to develop an indepent approach to music composition and a sense of how the techinical decisions one takes as a composer condition the aesthetic properties of the resulting works.
Content
Students will work on own compositions which they produce over the course of the semester. A main emphasis will be placed on close listening and analysing the works with respect to how the composition and arrangement correspond with the artistic intentions of the student.
Learning and teaching approaches
The class meets 3 hours a week for one semester. The teaching is organised as a masterclass where the work of the students is analysed and developed through group discussions and individual conversations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to - recount their working process - analyse their own compositions with respect to style and genre - evaluate the artistic merits and demerits of their compositions

Bibliography
Readings and other material will be distributed at the beginning of the semester. For the exam, the student offers the material which has been covered during the course. The material should comply with the conditions which apply to BA-level courses at the Faculty of Faroese Language and Literature.
