Prerequisites
To participate in the course, students must be enrolled for the diploma in art.
Purpose
The students gain foundational knowledge of the theory and techniques of creative writing and learn to apply this knowledge in practice.
Content
The course is arranged so that the content matches the interests of the students as far as possible. Topics covered in the course include storytelling, close reading, narratology, translation, as well as other topics which are relevant to the genre within which the students work. A special emphasis is placed both on analysing relevant theories of writing and mastering theoretical knowledge in practice.
Learning and teaching approaches
Teaching takes place 3 hours a week for one semester. Classes are organised as workshops with exercises, discussions, lectures and presentations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student should be capable of - explaining foundational theories and methods of creative writing - discuss these in an analytic fashion - demonstrate examples of them in practice and evaluate them

Combined. Take-home assignment + oral presentation.

Bibliography
Readings and other material will be distributed at the beginning of the semester. For the exam, the student presents a reading list of about 500 pages drawn from the material which has been read during the course.
