Prerequisites
It is a condition for participation that the student is enrolled on the Diploma in Art.
Purpose
Students learn to work critically with writing and to develop their own style of writing.
Content
This course is a continuation of Independent Work I – Writing. As with the previous course, work will focus on students’ own works written for the course. The main emphasis will be on close reading, analysis and critical examination of own texts considering special characteristics in writing craft and the correlation between artistic intentions and results. Students will also be required to read relevant theory placing the act of writing in a broader artistic, philosophical and social context. Texts written by students will be collected into a portfolio as they are submitted over the duration of the course.
Learning and teaching approaches
Teaching spans 3 hours a week over one semester. The approach used is master classes where students’ own works are discussed and developed through group work and one-to-one sessions with mentors.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the course can demonstrate ability to: - explain their own method, - analyse their own approach to writing with regards to genre and recipients, - assess the artistic strengths and weaknesses of their own texts, - demonstrate examples of how their own writing has developed (produce portfolio).
Assessment method
Portfolio submitted at the end of the course.

Bibliography
Relevant materials are circulated at the start of the course. For examination, students shall submit the material examined during the course. The volume of this material must be equivalent to the provisions for BA-level courses at the Faculty of Faroese Language and Literature.
