Prerequisites
Students must successfully complete Independent Work II - Music before they can join this course.
Purpose
Students learn to work critically with their own music, to develop their own style of composition, and to identify the characteristics of their own music making and artistic profile.
Content
This course is a continuation of Independent Work II – Music. Like the previous course, this one will focus on students’ own works composed for the course. The main emphasis will be on close listening, analysis and critical examination of own works considering how composition, form and arrangement correlate with the student’s artistic intentions. Students will also be required to read relevant theory, which provides a broader artistic, philosophical and social context for their own works
Learning and teaching approaches
The approach used is master classes where students’ own works are discussed and developed through group work and one-to-one discussions.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the course can demonstrate ability to: - explain their own method, - explain their own music-making with regards to style, form and genre of music, - assess the artistic strengths and weaknesses of their own works, - demonstrate examples of how their own music making has developed (produce portfolio), - independently identify the characteristics of their own music making and artistic profile.
Assessment method
Portfolio submitted at the end of the course.

Bibliography
Relevant materials are circulated at the start of the course. For examination, students are required to submit the material they have read/listened to during the course, in addition to their own work. The volume of this material must be equivalent to the provisions for BA-level courses at the Faculty of Faroese Language and Literature.
