Prerequisites
To participate in the course students must be enrolled for the BA in Creative Arts.
Purpose
The students gain foundational knowledge of the theory and techniques of creative writing and learn to apply this knowledge in practice.
Content
Topics covered in the course include narratology, text reading, literary style as well as other topics which are relevant to different literary genres. In addition to technical and practical development of writing techniques, a special emphasis is also placed on analysing relevant theories of writing and mastering theoretical knowledge in practice.
Learning and teaching approaches
Teaching takes place 3 hours a week for one semester. Classes are organised as workshops with exercises, discussions, lectures and presentations. Active participation: the course requires 80% class attendance and text submissions + presentations at required deadlines. Active participation is a prerequisite for students to attend examination. Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student should be capable of - explaining foundational theories and methods of creative writing - discuss these in an analytic fashion - demonstrate examples of them in practice

Combined. Take-home assignment + oral presentation. *Reexamination: 6 hour written exam
