Prerequisites
Students must have completed the required core component of the BA in Faroese. Admission may also be granted under alternative prerequisites. (Refer to the programme description in force).
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to - afford students an understanding of children’s literature as a genre and knowledge about the history of Faroese children’s literature - give students insight into research topics within contemporary children’s and YA literature - develop the skills to work analytically with children’s and YA literature as genres in the Nordic/international context.
Content
Children’s and YA literature as genres in the context of history and research history. We will read works on theory and link them to old and new Faroese and Nordic children’s and YA literature.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the course can demonstrate ability to: - explain the key aspects of Faroese children’s literature history drawing on knowledge of the subject, - understand current research topics and relate them to recent Faroese children’s and YA literature, - apply the terminology of this research area, - analyse Faroese children’s and YA literature based on the theory available and in the Nordic/international context.
