Prerequisites
Students must have completed the required core components of the BA in Faroese or other equivalent preconditions. This course can also be taken as an individual course with other prerequisites (please refer to the academic programme in force).
Purpose
The student will learn basic concepts in phonology and morphology, and get a thorough understanding of the phonology and morphology of Faroese.
Content
We will read different material on Faroese phonology and morphology, and we will work on practical issues. In order to reach this aim, we will work with a text-corpus. Phonetic transcriptions are part of the course, which will give the students a better understanding of how to use IPA on Faroese.
Learning and teaching approaches
Talks, student-presentation, discussions, and group-work.

In completing the course, you will be able • To use the material in your further work on Faroese phonetics, phonology and morphology in its broadest sense • To write about the topic • To understand the system behind Faroese phonology and morphology • To impart the material to others
Assessment method
Written exam, 6 hours. The student can use all available material.
