Purpose
The course is designed to provide the students with skills and knowledge to work independently and scientifically with contemporary Faroese literature, i.e. literature published in 2014. The students will also acquire insight into contemporary literature in the Nordic countries. They will work with texts that have not previously been analyzed by scholars. On the basis of relevant theories of literature they will be able to analyze and discuss Faroese literature within the context of trends in contemporary Nordic and European literature.
Content
The course is a self-tuition course. The students are responsible for defining the subject matter and finding relevant text materials. The teacher supervises and then authorizes the subject matter and the curriculum before the students start working in groups. One defining focus-point in the course will be the shift from monological to multivoiced poetry and in this connection the concept of “relational poetry”. Within this theoretical framework Faroese literature published in 2014 will be analyzed and discussed in a Nordic and European context.
