Prerequisites
Students must have completed the required core component of the BA in Faroese. This course can also be taken as an individual course with other prerequisites (please refer to the academic programme in force).
Purpose
The student will acquire knowledge about older and newer research in language contact with special attention to the situation in the Faroe Islands.
Content
We will read The Dynamics of Faroese-Danish Language Contact (H. P. Petersen), and parts of Language Contact (Y. Matras). The students will furthermore read different recent and older articles about the topic.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lecture, presentations, group-work, discussions.
Learning outcomes
The student shall be able to work with the distributed material S/he shall be able to estimate the material and use it in his/her further work with language contact.
Assessment method
6 hours written exam. All notes and books are allowed.
Re-examination: As the regular examination.
