Purpose
In this course, students will - become aware of the interrelation between play and learning - acquire knowledge of learning processes and games that are central to sports and fitness - attain competence in using basic tools in sports and fitness subjects - become competent in planning, conducting, evaluating and documenting learning processes and games, which purpose is to develop the health and fitness level of particular groups of people - be enabled to organise activities, which improve a target group’s health level, social competence and well-being
Content
The course consists of 8 parts 1. Theories on how children develop, mature and grow 2. Theories on play, why children play and how play influences children’s physical development and social competence 3. Theories on the interrelation between play and learning 4. Play options – when, where and how? 5. Different games: ballgames, singing games, water games and games in nature; games that focus on movement, the senses, and gross and fine motor skills 6. Testing and evaluating motor skills 7. Warm-up 8. Good work posture
Assessment method
Students will write a project consisting of a theoretical and practical part. Further instruction on the project will be provided in class. Internal examiners will be used. Grades are awarded on Passed/Not passed basis.
