Purpose
Students will acquire insight into theories and methods behind two pedagogical methods, Reggio Emilia and Storyline. Students are to acquire foundational knowledge about the scientific theories and about the views on children and creativity on which these methods are built. In addition, they will acquire knowledge of and competence in didactic methods and practical concerns in these methods.
Content
The course consists both of a theoretical and practical part. The basis for the theoretical component is texts on these methods, innovation, creativity and creative activity. In the practical component, students will work hands-on with these methods in varied, reflecting, experimental, creative and innovative ways. Among the subjects covered are: - theory, didactics and hands-on activities inspired by Reggio Emilia pedagogy - theory, didactics and hands-on activities inspired by Storyline pedagogy
Assessment method
Students, in groups of 2-3, write an academic essay. They will also make an oral presentation, based on the hands-on work of the group. Further instructions are provided in-class. Internal examiners are used. Grades are awarded on a Passed/Not passed basis.
