Purpose
The purpose of this course is twofold: 1. Students will acquire theoretical knowledge about different research methods, which purpose is acquiring empirical data during their practicum. 2. Students will prepare an aesthetic process, which they will try out and evaluate during a practicum.
Content
1. During the first two weeks of the course, students prepare for the practicum theoretically, didactically and practically. 2. Students will also acquire knowledge about various research methods. Students will focus on methods that will help them in documenting their own competence in conducting an aesthetic learning process, children’s receptivity of the process and what children gain by the process. 3. The practicum lasts 3 weeks, students being on-site approximately 10 hours a week. 2-3 students are in each practicum group. 4. During their practicum, students write a research paper, which is based on their practicum experience.
Assessment method
Students are assessed on their practicum, the research paper and an oral defence. Further instruction will be given in class. External examiners will be used. Students need to pass all assignments. The final grade will be based on the research paper and oral defence, and will be awarded according to the current grading scale.
