Prerequisites
Be enrolled as student on the Faculty of Education.
Purpose
The student will get knowledge about child and youth culture. Get different conceptions about children and childhood, and what distinguishes the children’s and young people’s lives in the contemporary society. In addition, they will get knowledge, both professionally and theoretically, about the connection between the individual, individually and as groups, the institutional field and the society. And about the interaction between the interest groups and conditions for professional work within the pedagogical field.
Content
· Childhood – historic, sociological, and pedagogical · Digital media and children and young people · Collection of laws in the pedagogical field · Social structures and how they affect one another · Globalization in the Faroese society · The welfare model in the Faroese society · Time streames · Interaction between pedagogues and children/users, parents/relatives, and politicians · Pedagogical institutions, how they function, institutional culture · Co-operation and interdisciplinary cooperation within the pedagogical field · Professional identity – pedagogical work in a sociological context · Powerty · Pedagogical work with multiculturalisme · Theory and methods for a qualitative semi structured interview
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures, workshops, groupwork, individual assignments, presentations, required presentations, guidance, and evaluation. Which approach that will be used, is based on the teaching subject.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to: · Explain what characterizes the culture of children and young people in a historical point of view and how this can be presented in pedagogical work. · Explain and assess how digital media can influence the lives of children and young people. · analyze the importance of the society and institutions for the individual, pedagogical field and pedagogical work in the contemporary society, based on applicable laws · Analyze the connection between the individual and institutions within the pedagogical field regarding the ability to work professionally as a pedagogue · Interpret and analyze theory, concepts and methods which usually are used to analyze the interaction between the individual, the institutional field and society in comparison to the pedagogical field. This based on own empire.
