Purpose
To enable students to design teaching approaches, activity design for the language skills and teaching grammar in context. To give an overview of and apply the major approaches of literary criticism in literary analysis
Content
Teaching /Assessment of the four skills & grammar in the teaching of English as a foreign language. • Listening • Speaking • Reading • Writing and grammar in language learning. Literary criticism and literary analysis. • Approaches to literary criticism. • Tools of literary analysis.
Learning and teaching approaches
Blended learning  Lectures by course leader.  Individual/pair/group work  Individual/pair projects.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, learners should be able to: • design language activities to teach the four skills & grammar in context. • design skill-based activities based on literary texts and literary criticism.
Assessment method
An individual oral presentation of a classroom activity based on a literary text using teaching approaches to two language skills.
