By the end of the course the students are able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge about Carbon and its basis for molecular diversity 2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding about the chemistry of water and its importance for life 3. Demonstrate knowledge about biological macromolecules and lipids 4. Demonstrate knowledge about energy and life 5. Demonstrate knowledge about cell structure and function 6. Demonstrate knowledge about cell membranes, cellular signaling and cell respiration 7. Demonstrate knowledge about photosynthetic processes 8. Demonstrate knowledge about mitosis 9. Demonstrate knowledge about sexual life cycles and meiosis 10. Demonstrate knowledge about Mendelian genetics 11. Demonstrate knowledge about linkage and chromosomes 12. Demonstrate knowledge about nucleic acids and inheritance 13. Demonstrate knowledge about expression of genes 14. Demonstrate knowledge about control of gene expression 15. Demonstrate knowledge about DNA Technology 16. Assessment method
Four-hour written examination. No auxiliary material.
