Purpose
To give the students an overview of interactions between manmade pollution and living organisms.
Content
Various pollutants like DDT, PCB, dioxin, PAH, heavy metals, tributyl tin and radioactive substances are described in terms of sources, route and mechanism of transport, uptake in the organsims, metabolism and excretion. Environmental effects are described, as for example acid rain, eutrofication and hormon mimicing substances.
Learning and teaching approaches
40 lectures á 45 minutes, 7 sessions of problem solving
Assessment method
4 hour written examination. No aids, however NVD computer is available for writing. The 13-grade scale is used.
