Purpose
In the modern community, communication is more and more important in our everyday life, both for scientists and other peoples. The importance to inform other about your results is increasing, both as writing and oral presentations. Today, it is not enough just to inform your colleagues, but it is also necessary to inform across traditional academic boundaries and to the public. Today, your institute also has to bring up to public what is going on, the field of research and especially inform about results from this investigations. The aim of the course is to provide the students with fundamental topic on communication. In theory and exercises the students learn how to present their results in an interesting and attractive way for other recipient, both in writing and orally. In the course, it will mainly be focused on the popular scientific part, but you also learn how to write a scientific paper.
Content
Communication, The scientific world and “the other world”, The sender – who is the receiver, big communicators, to make a presentation, media as messengers, how to write a scientific paper.
Learning and teaching approaches
A total of 30 hours divided between lectures and exercises.
Assessment method
From a self-elected subject to write a popular scientific article which later on will be presented in a newspaper. The course requirements are completed when the article has been published. Assessment: passed/not passed.
