Purpose
To provide the student with general understanding of evolutionary mechanisms and historical evolution
Content
Based on the structure of the textbook, the lectures focuses on fitness, adaptation and origin of life. Future, evolutionary forces operating on the gene, organism and populations are discussed, as well as speciation and macroevolution. Finally, the lecture focus on human and cultural evolution and the application of evolutionary theory in biology and else where.
Learning and teaching approaches
20 lectures & 10 hours seminars.
Assessment method
3-hour written examination. Marks are also given for written exercises. The average of the marks weighs 20 % of the examination. The 13-grade scale is used.
