Purpose
To provide the students with an understanding of multivariate statistical methods with relevance to natural sciences and to give an introduction to the use of the statistical software language R.
Content
Factorial Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Contrasts. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Multiple Regression Analysis. Logistic Regression Analysis. Count and proportion data. Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Fundamentals of the R software language. Dataframes and statistical modelling in R.
Learning and teaching approaches
35 lectures and 40 hours problem solving and consulting. The students will be working on the following mandatory activities: 3 weekly assignments and one minor project, all to be finalized 5 days before the final oral examination.
Assessment method
The evaluation is based on the following elements with given %-weights: - 3 mandatory weekly assignments ( 30% ) - One mandatory minor project ( 40% ) - Final oral examination ( 30% ) The current grade scale will be is used.
