Purpose

Physical and chemical properties of: hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, thiols, ethers, amines, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives. Mixed functional group compounds. Carbohydrates. Lipids. Proteins. Nucleic acids. Synthetic strategies. Stereoisomerism. Resonance. Reaction mechanisms. Spectroscopy.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures, problem solving and laboratory exercises
Assessment method
Four-hour written examination. The existing grade scale will be used. All auxiliary materials are permitted.
