To provide the students with knowledge of cell structure and function; organelles; growth and cell cycle; cellular and molecular interactions
Content
Structure and function of organelles. Structure and function of DNA, RNA and proteins. Gene expression. Intercellular transport. intercellular and intracellular communication. Hormones, growth factors, signal transduction. Cell cycle and division. Evolution. Organization of tissues. Stem cells. Cancer.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures. Problem solving. Laboratory demonstrations of cell culture, some cellular processes and some methods in cell biology.
Assessment method
Four hour written examination without auxiliary materials, except electronic calculator. NVD computer available for writing.
