3813.14 - Human Physiology

Course number
3813.14
Title
Human Physiology
ECTS
7.5
Prerequisites
For joining this single course, the subject “Biochemistry” is required.
Purpose
To give the students an overview of human structure and physiology at the cellular, histological and organ system level.
Content
Overview of structure and functions of organs and organ systems. Description of physiological regulatory mechanisms. Problem solving of physiological processes.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures and practical exercises
Learning outcomes
When the course is completed the student is expected to be able to: • Describe the body's organs: location, structure and function. • Explain the physiological regulation mechanisms at cellular, organ and on body level and explain the relationships between the different physiological mechanisms. • Perform simple calculations based on stated physiological measurements. • Apply the basic physiological knowledge to assess and analyse everyday situations such as physical activity, individual development, disease and food intake.
Assessment method
4-hour written examination. No aids allowed, however NVD computer is available for writing. The 13-grade scale is used
