Purpose
The purpose of the course is to provide the students with sufficient knowledge of the law and practice within the field of business law, in order for the students to be able to identify, analyse and come up with resolutions to real legal disputes.
Content
When planning operations, productions, contracts, communications and cooperation with other parties etc., business law, as a legal framework, provides an important management tool. This course analyses those aspects of the law that influence the decision-making process in a firm and the students must, collectively and individually, reflect upon the organisation of the firm with regard to the legal framework.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures, class discussions and student presentations.
Learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, the student will be able to: • understand selected legal texts within this course and discuss these within the legal vocabulary • analyse the legal prospects of individuals and firms • identify specific corporate legal circumstances, apply relevant legal concepts, rules and legal sources to that circumstance • articulate resolutions to corporate legal disputes by providing adequate legal methods, rules and legal sources • reflect upon the societal importance of, and the reasons as to why the law is constructed as it is.
