Prerequisites
Upper secondary diploma with B-level mathematics. No prior knowledge of economics is required for course participation.
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to give students: • An introduction to business management concepts and methods in relation to decision-making processes in different business environments • An understanding of the practical use of economic analysis as applied to decision-making processes in corporate governance
Content
The course teaches students business economics methods required for corporate governance decision-making processes, in which choices have to be made between the options available in order to reach the business goal(s). Topics discussed: budgeting, capitalization, operational costs, working capital, cash flow and capital structure.

The successful student can demonstrate ability to understand and meticulously analyse the following concepts: • Corporate Goals and Corporate Governance • Capital Budgeting and Costs of Production • Valuation of Free Cash Flow (WACC & APV) • Corporative Debt and Working Capital • M&A, Business Start-up plan
Assessment method
20-minute oral examination with 40 minutes of preparation time, students may use the course bibliography and their own notes to prepare for the examination
