Prerequisites
Pass grade in Mathematics B at the upper secondary level.
Skills and knowledge from or equivalent to those taught in the
courses Principles in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, and
Mathematics 1 is an advantage.
Purpose
The purpose of the course is to provide the students with the
independent competence to use the most important basic
theoretical and formal models in long-run macroeconomic
analysis, in order to anchor the students in scientific methodology
and theories of the subject.
Content
The course teaches long-run macroeconomics and economic
growth, and gives the students knowledge of the standard formal
models of economic growth and long-run tendencies is
productivity and income, consumption and capital formation. The
course introduces other determinants of economic growth in order
to give a proper introduction to the extent of the subject.

macroeconomics
Analyze and explain central aspects of economic growth
theories
Use formal models from modern growth theory to explain

world countries’ growth performance
