Purpose
To give students a broad introduction to engineering practices on the Faroe Islands related to buildings, energy and electricity, as well as strengthen fundamental competences relevant for students in engineering.
Content
Excursions to, and visits from, Faroese companies, organizations and persons, which are active in areas relevant for engineering. Fundamental concepts within energy-, electrical- or civil engineering. Introduction to Revit. Basic scientific competences such as such as writing technical report, prepare a presentation, proper usage of references and data handling in Excel.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures, excursions, presentations, problem solving, laboratory project, individual gathering of information, written reports.
Learning outcomes
Have a fundamental understanding of engineering issues, know the main companies and institutions that work with relevant engineering issues on the Faroe Islands, are able to use Revit, work in teams on small assignments, know the typical structure of a technical report, solve simple problems by using spreadsheets.
Assessment method
Mandatory group summaries and presentations, as well as individual submissions that must be accepted to pass the course.
