Purpose
The bachelor thesis is intended to document that students draw on theory and apply methods to a clinical nursing practice research question. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis is intended to document that students have acquired general academic skills.
Content
Students write a thesis and defend it at an oral examination. Opposition: • An opposition will be held as the course is halfway through Workshops: • Method • Analysis • Discussion and critique of selected theory and methods
Learning and teaching approaches
Producing the thesis. Presentations and participation in workshops and vivas.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the module can demonstrate ability to: • identify, define and argue for the choice of a clinical nursing practice research question • explain the societal significance of the clinical nursing practice research question • explain the scientific requirements placed on the research method selected for the project • search for, select, analyse and asses key nursing theories and potentially other key theories, as well as study and research results in relation to the clinical nursing practice research question chosen by the student • analyse and interpret or analyse and describe the empirical data/knowledge of the key nursing theories and other potential key theories • discuss and assess the selected methods, as well as any results presented in the project • present a conclusion and discussion of the broader context, perspectives and implications of the thesis • present a proposal for further development of nursing in relation to the research question area • demonstrate capacity to organise their own work in a cohesive thesis
