Databases and SQL
The aim of this course is to introduce students to database systems concepts, both theoretical and practical. The relational data model and the SQL-language are studied. Practically the students are exposed to the Oracle-database and work on small-scale database development projects.
Databases and their applications, Database design, normalization, Entity-Relation diagrams, relational database theory, relation schemes, relations, tables, Standard Query Language SQL, indexing, hashing, query implementation and optimization, database transactions, database management, Oracle and PotgreSQL programming, implementing small database projects.
Learning and teaching approaches
Lectures, problem solving and small projects.
Oralral examination. The existing grade scale will be used.
