Purpose
The purpose of the course is to provide the students with theoretical basis for further studies in history
Content
Knowledge about:
Key concepts within the field of historical philosophy, theory and method
Selected empirical fields of comparative and international history
Selected empirical fields of public organisations, administration and management
Learning and teaching approaches
The course will be based on a combination of lectures, thematic seminars and a final written assignment
Learning outcomes
The student should be able to:
Formulate and communicate an advanced interdisciplinary understanding on history
Elucidate the key role of history in the development of modern/late modern societies
Make reflexive choices between different theories and theoretical approaches and their practical purpose in understanding the function of history, institutions and organisations in the development of societies
Identify and define concrete problems and methods in studies of history, relevant for advanced understanding of the development and organisation of societies
Understand and analyse institutional and organisational change
