Prerequisites
Bachelor in History, Social Studies and Planning, Politics and Administration or equivalent qualifications within the social sciences.
Purpose
The purpose of the Masterlearning project is to allow students to study an issue of relevance to Faroese society (past and/or present) employing a problem-oriented approach and interdisciplinary working methods.
Content
Knowledge about:  Practical and relevant issues within key areas of society  Analysing societal issues with the use of academic methods.  Focussed theoretical perspectives in order to better understand phenomena of importance to Faroese society (past and/or present).  The organization and craft of doing problem oriented analysis in collaboration with other students, researchers, and possibly other stakeholders.
Learning and teaching approaches
The Master-learning project will be based upon problem-oriented project work carried out in groups. In the beginning of the semester students will be presented to the theme of the semester and to a handful of concrete topics related to the theme. Students will be invited to discuss these topics and pick one of these topics to work on. On the basis of this, groups will be formed. Once groups have been formed, the project work process will be facilitated through mandatory presentations, seminar discussions and peer feedback sessions as well as supervision from affiliated scholars throughout the semester.
Learning outcomes
 Identify and formulate topical problems from a scientific/academic perspective.  Construct the analysis of a relevant problematic by the help of relevant theoretical construction and concepts.  To identify and discuss practical implications revealed by the analysis.  The ability to discuss scientific issues with scholars and involved stakeholders.  The ability to report scientific issues in a trustworthy and sufficient text.
Assessment method
Accepted presentations and participation at seminars is a prerequisite for attending the final assessment. Oral examination on the background of the project report.
