Purpose
The aim of the course is to analyse Regin í Líð’s body of work and to discuss different currents in the modern breakthrough in Nordic literature.
Content
The main works will be the novel Bábelstornið and the short stories “Minnisvarðin”, “Rakul” and “Eyðun” by Regin í Líð. Students will also read works by authors such as M.A. Winther, J.P. Jacobsen, Herman Bang, Amalie Skram, Henrik Ibsen, Victoria Benedictsson and August Strindberg. We will also study resources on theories by authors like: Georg Brandes, Émile Zola, John Stuart Mill, Pil Dahlerup, Per Stounbjerg and Kirsten Brix.
Learning and teaching approaches
The course will be organized into lectures and student presentations.
Assessment method
Open or set take-home assignment, three weeks.
