Modern Faroese (MA)

Prerequisites
A BA in Faroese with good marks (meaning a grade point average of at least 7 on the 7-point grading scale/8 on the 00-13 marking scale).
Purpose
The student will acquire knowledge about newer and older research results in Faroese syntax. In addition to this, we will look at language contact and how it affects Faroese.
Content
We will read parts of Faroese. An Overview and Reference grammar (2004; 2012); more specific: the chapter on Syntax. The students will furthermore read different recent and older articles about topics in Faroese syntax, and we will read parts of Føroysk mállæra II. Syntaks (manuscript).
Learning and teaching approaches
Lecture, presentations, group-work, discussions.
Learning outcomes
The students shall be able to work critical with the distributed material. S/he shall be able to estimate the material and use it in his/her further work with Faroese.
Assessment method
30. min. oral exam + 30 min. preparation.
