Quality Assurance at the University of the Faroe Islands

The University of the Faroe Islands is committed to assuring and enhancing high academic quality across all its programmes. Our internal quality assurance system is based on the ESG standards and aligned with the university’s Strategy 2030. It fosters a strong quality culture in which students, faculty, and leadership all actively engage in continuous development.

The purpose of the system is to promote transparency, support continuous improvement of the learning environment, and ensure that all programmes are research-based and responsive to societal needs. Quality is understood as a shared responsibility, cultivated through dialogue, evaluation, implementation of changes, and systematic follow-up.

Our ambition is to provide high-quality, internationally recognised programmes with student learning and well-being at the centre.

Internal Quality Assurance in accordance with the Bologna Process

The Faroe Islands are working towards joining the Bologna Process, and in this context, the University of the Faroe Islands has developed its internal quality assurance system to ensure alignment with the framework agreements underpinning the process.

This system incorporates the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG, 2015) and the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL), as well as the definition of programme scope based on, and referenced to, the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
