    Calendar for Quality Processes

The calendar for quality processes provides an overview of when key quality assurance activities take place throughout the year, including important deadlines.

    New and Changed Course Descriptions

All Course Descriptions, including elective courses, that take effect in the academic year 2027/28 must receive final approval by 1 January 2027. In addition, all obligatory courses that are part of a programme to be offered in the academic year 2027/28 must be approved prior to 1 January 2027. This means that, by 1 January 2027, Course Descriptions must be approved for all compulsory courses forming part of the structure of each individual programme to be offered in the academic year 2027/28.

The Programme Leader must have approved the Course Descriptions by 1 January 2027 at the latest. Therefore, it is necessary to allow sufficient time for the process ahead, including the formal comments from the Study Board on the Course Description and any subsequent revisions that this may entail, so that it is finalised and approved by 1 January 2027.

Together with the approved Course Descriptions, the course schedules will be registered in the course catalogue, which will be publicly available at skeid.setur.fo on 15 March 2027. LSS coordinates the registration in the course catalogue.

    Exceptional Electives

In exceptional circumstances, elective courses may be approved up until 1 October for the spring semester and 1 April for the autumn semester. In such cases, these must be elective courses that could not have been planned further in advance, for example, in response to a current societal need that has arisen.

    New and Changed Programme Descriptions

All new or changed Programme Descriptions that take effect at the beginning of the 2027/28 academic year must receive final approval by 1 January 2027.

The Dean gives final approval to all changes to Programme Descriptions. Therefore, sufficient time must be allocated to all stages of the updating and approval process to ensure that the Programme Description is finalised and approved by 1 January 2027.

The process for developing, updating and approving Course Descriptions and Programme Descriptions is described in detail in "Mannagongd fyri lýsing og góðkenning av útbúgvingum."

    Course Evaluations

Course Evaluations are conducted as courses are completed. The results are processed in accordance with the procedure. Once the results of the students’ Course Evaluations are available, the Course Responsible is given the opportunity to comment on the results as well as on the course delivery in general.

    Yearly Monitoring

Yearly Monitoring is conducted in accordance with the procedure and begins in January. The report is completed in May and is subsequently submitted to the relevant Study Board and the Dean for comments. The deadlines for each stage of the process are set out in the procedure for Yearly Monitoring.

    Periodic Review

The Periodic Review of programmes (REÚ) begins in October, when the internal review panel is established, and the report is completed in August. Once the report has been prepared, an implementation plan is drawn up. The deadlines for each stage of the process are set out in the REÚ procedure.
