Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is looking for volunteer candidates with a degree qualification and an interest in international development to support our European headquarters programmes team.

Full-time Voluntary Assistant Programme Officer Mercy Corps is looking for volunteer candidates with a degree qualification and an interest in international development to support our European headquarters Programmes Team. Ideally, we look for a commitment of 2½ to three months and placements run throughout the year in our Edinburgh office. We are currently recruiting for January 2009. This provides an excellent opportunity to experience the reality of working in an international development organisation’s headquarters whilst gaining practical skills relating to grant development and management in international development programming.

The Programmes Team manage all projects funded by institutional donors, in close
cooperation with the Finance Department. Projects are field-led, and the main responsibility of the Programmes Department is to liaise between the field and institutional donors, to submit good quality proposals and reports, and to manage all staff according to best practice. The Voluntary Assistant Programme Officers support this work throughout the year. You'll need a dynamic and enthusiastic attitude and have an energetic, focused and flexible approach to your work as well as good team and communication skills.
