West Nordic Studies at the UArctic Congress 2016

Lau Blaxekjær (Assistant Professor, Programme Director of West Nordic Studies) and Martin Mohr Olsen (Research Assistant for West Nordic Studies) representing the University of the Faroe Islands at the Arctic Congress 2016 in St. Petersburg, Russia.


Lau Blaxekjær (Assistant Professor, Programme Director of West Nordic Studies) og Martin Mohr Olsen (Research Assistant for West Nordic Studies) are currently representing the University of the Faroe Islands at the University of the Arctic Congress 2016 in St. Petersburg, Russia. UArctic is a cooperative network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. The West Nordic Studies programme at the University of the Faroe Islands and partners offering the programme are funded by the UArctic.

This week, Lau Blaxekjær officially initiates the Thematic Network titled "Thematic Network on Arctic Coastal Communities for Sustainability". The plan is for this thematic network to study and research challenges facing all Arctic coastal communities. The network will, among other things, focus on local food production, energy transistions and knowledge-production. The network will establish a conference on the Faroe Islands concerning these and related issues in 2017.
