Faroese Summer Institute 2026 - Language and Culture
Tórshavn July 30 - August 15 

An International Summer Institute in Faroese Language and Culture is planned to be held at the University of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn, starting at 6 pm on July 30. Departure day is August 15, 2026.

Programme:
The University of the Faroe Islands will hold an international summer institute in summer 2026 offering an intensive and comprehensive introduction to Faroese language. The institute will take place at the University in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. University students from all countries can apply. Applicants must have basic knowledge of other Scandinavian and/or Germanic languages and know the basic concepts of grammar, and documentation should be provided upon request.

The academic programme is an introduction to Faroese language. Languages of instruction will be Faroese and English. Class attendance is mandatory and teaching is scheduled  in the morning and the afternoon, partly weekends.

Students who pass a final test at the end of the course are provided with a certificate (10 ECTS/European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

Cost: The tuition fee is DKK 8500 (the fee is subject to change) and includes instruction, lectures and exam.

Accommodation: Participants have to organize their accomodation in Tórshavn area.

Enrolment: The application deadline is February 15 2026. Payment deadline is ultimo March and is non-refundable.
